Spin-off blogs

I finally began back at uni last Tuesday and I have recently started two new units; one is an Environmental project, where I am going to research, design and model an environment within a group of 5 people. The second is called Industry Exercises 1, where I have to choose a brief and then fulfil the needs of that brief.

I have made two separate blogs for each unit:

I will also be posting stuff for the environmental project on this blog, as well as on the separate blog, for the assessment.

11 second club October entry is finished

I have finished my 11 second club entry for October, ironically entitled "15 seconds left", and lasts around 16 seconds (weird, huh?)

I'm actually happy with how it has turned out, I feel as though I have worked on the poses to make sure they all go well together and that the character is believable. I think it is definitely better than my last 11 second club attempt, where I only finished 146th place and I spent a stupid amount of time just trying to model a stethoscope and looking for character rigs, rather than keeping it simple and focusing on the character animation.

I suppose the only way to judge how well I've done here is how the voters/other animators at the 11 second club respond to this animation at the end of October, I'll let you all know when it is time to vote.

Facial animation for 11 sec club

Ok, so far I've done the full lip syncing for my 11 second club entry. I've also modelled and animated a clock that is going to be a prop in my animated sequence.

Here is how my facial animation looks at the moment;

I'd be grateful if you all took a look and tell me what you think ;)

11 second club- take 2

I've decided that for one last project before I go back to uni, that I will take part in the 11 second club competition for October. I learnt quite a lot about the areas that I need to improve in last time I took part, even if the feedback was largely critical. This time around I have to animate against the following piece of dialogue;

"Heh. It's like a predator, it's stalking you. Oh, you can try to outrun it with doctors, medicines... but in the end, time is going to hunt you down and make the kill."

Having listened to it, I have already come up with a concept in my mind and I am working on some thumbnail drawings to visualise it.

Also, I just want to say, thanks to all of you who gave me feedback on my website, it was really useful and I've already made quite a few tweaks to make it more consistent and easy to get around.
